Today, I’m prompted to write about a provision I’m grateful for. As I struggle to leave the comfort of my cozy home, I can’t think of a better provision at this time other than: warmth.
It’s so easy in this life I live to just layer on some clothes, bump up the heat, grab one of my dozens of blankets when I’m chilly. Just as easily, I forget how many people go to sleep shivering. There’s an inumerable amount of unknown humans that can’t afford heat, that don’t have blankets or coats, or even shelter from winter conditions. Here in Kansas City, this time of year gets below freezing almost every night.
I’m going to use this post for 2 major things today besides challenging people to show extra gratitude this holiday season. I’m going to use it as a reminder to myself to try my very best to stop complaining especially about the cold. I’m also going to use it to challenge myself and others to donate coats, blankets, hand warmers, etc. to people who might need them. Maybe some of you readers live in warm climates and have a hard time relating, but regardless of temperature there’s always going to be people lacking basic necessities that many have such an abundance of that they are taken for granted.
Feel free to comment if there are any organizations in need of donated items that you know of. Also, feel free to pass this challenge on! If you’re like me and love all things warm and fuzzy, show your gratitude by making time to enjoy those exact things.
